What’s Next for Apple? (NASDAQ:AAPL)

Apple reported 4Q 2010 earnings Monday. The Mac-maker blew iPhone sales estimates out of the water, and beat analyst estimates on profits and revenues. However, the company’s guidance and gross profit margin were lower than expected. With me to discuss the September quarter and what’s next for Apple is Colin Gillis of BGC Financial. Colin.. 1. The street was expecting 38% or more gross margins. Apple came in at 36.9%. What caused the lower margin miss? 2. Do you think these lower margins is a trend? 3. Is Apple pricing more aggressively due to the success of Android? 4. When do you expect iPad product constraints to improve? 5. Do you think Apple will be able to continue growing tablet market share once cheaper competitors – or Adobe Flash supporting competitors – enter the market? 6. Apple is the second largest company worldwide by market capitalization, behind Exxon Mobil. It’s stock price reached above the $300 dollar mark for the first time last week. There are $500 price targets on the stock. Can Apple continue it’s growth, or does the larger size imply that growth has to slow at some point? 7. Is Apple required to hit a home run with each new product release to maintain the current growth rate? 8. On the call Steve Jobs said he prefers to hang onto his $50 billion in cash despite it earning only 1%, rather than return it to shareholders. Do you see Apple making an acquisition of any meaningful size or do you think some kind of buyback or dividend would be more
